I think the sickness has almost left...another couple of days and hopefully we'll be home free. I still have the crud and so does Koala, but the other kids seem to be doing much better. If you've never been sick with a flu and croup and had to take care of 3 kids (oh yah....add to that being 26 weeks pregnant) - let me tell ya.....it is definitely an experience. Not one that i relish repeating anytime soon. Seems like this pregnancy I've had the knack at getting myself into "flu like" situation and it hasn't been pleasant - I'm thinking back to my 3 day stomach flu a couple months ago (at least I lost 9 lbs or so.)
I have no idea how many times during the last 9 days I have wanted a big pot of soup or a nice homemade meal. I had made some chicken noodle the morning I woke up and wasn't feeling well but that was gone in about 3 days - leaving us with *take -out* as an option. Sometimes I wish that we could have those little devices on Star Trek where you just push a couple of buttons and everything you were ever craving would miraculously appear in your microwave. that would be nice. Maybe if I actually would spend a day stocking the freezer that would solve this unprepared state of being during sickness or busy days. Anyone have any good recipes to share that would freeze well?
I'm feeling better to cook now...yesterday Zac took me to wal mart and I was able to pick up some much needed items...just to come home and realize that my wheat is all gone, cinnamon is almost out, and I have about 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder left. Blah. This is a house that RUNS on cinnamon and wheat flour folks.
In other news, a little pregnancy update for the masses. I am indeed a little over 26 weeks pregnant - I haven't been to the doctor in over 8 weeks just because of snow and sickness. I'll be trying to make an appointment soon but besides the never ending ache in my lower regions and hips, I'm doing just fine and Finn is kicking and flopping about crazily - I think we're good. My third trimester starts February 4th so I'm looking forward to the homestretch....can't wait to meet this little fella. Honestly, I know that I will be tired with night feedings but I'm so ready to have my body back and feel somewhat *normal* that i don't even care about the tiredness right now. Been there, done that ya know?
sorry for the somewhat boring post...just wanted to catch up a bit and let everyone one that we're alive in Tunnel Hill. :) Zac's birthday is coming up on the 31st so I'm searching for a good coconut cake recipe for him this year. He and I get to go out for some much needed Mexican food on the 29th so I'm already looking foward to that. There is this wonderful little joint downtown Chattanooga called La Altena and it has the BEST authentic Mexican food ever...wonderful atmosphere too - just like home.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend...

I just filled out a grocery list. Thought I got everything, but came home to some items still missing. I feel your pain. I hate realizing that I have forgotten something! I will keep an eye out for a good recipe.
Glad y'all are on the mend. It's so tough to be sick while your kiddos are sick.
Yay for the homestretch! Little Finn will be in your arms before you know it.
Hey! Decided to come by and visit the blog since it appears that you have disappeared from FB?!? I miss you! =)

At least we have a grocery store down the road (even if it's more expensive) if I've fogotten something very basic on my grocery list. But you live 30 mins. out of town so I can see how frustrated you would feel missing something so essential like flour! Soups are a great thing to freeze, especially if they will be used during sickness. Good to hear you are on the mend and will get to have a night out soon!!! :)Although, I'm super jealous that you're going to eat authentic mexican food. Canadians seem to have no concept of the meaning AUTHENTIC.
