Accomplished

Right now I'm reading the book Lies Women Believe for our women's Bible study at church. At first when I read the titles of the various chapters I just thought "Whatever...I don't believe these lies." HOWEVER, now that I have studied them more in depth and I've had our wonderful leader explain a few things I know that I do believe lies that Satan throws at me...almost every day. Being a stay at home mom is very rewarding. I LOVE my children and they fill me with joy everyday. Sometimes though, depending on which circles I'm in, I start feeling frumpy. I start thinking about all the things that I could have done if I would have just gotten a college degree and had a career for a few years before having kids. I think about my love for nutrition and my dream of being a dietician. I think about how I use to sing and play the piano...I use to paint, I could jog for miles and miles without feeling winded. Oh...and my forever ponytail. Once upon a time I actually FIXED my hair. Yes, sometimes I feel like maybe I failed. I wouldn't have ever admitted to these feelings before our study.
The TRUTH is though...I am a dietician. Every day I select the food that I give my children. I lovingly plan out a week's menu and I shop within our budget. I bake bread...soon I'll be making our yogurt. I DO sing...I sing Clap Your Hands...I sing Oh Where Have You Been "Brady" Boy, I dance every morning to the dvd Kid's Praise. That is great exercise! Oh...and have you tried playing Ring Around the Rosy about 24 times in a row?! Very exhilerating and I always get off the ground feeling completely winded. Have you had a child smile in your face just because you're their mama? Or a husband tell you "you're such a huge help" or "oh my gosh...this pizza you made is DELICIOUS. Can we have it , like, every night?" Oh...and the ponytail I complain of - Zac loves my hair. According to the Bible it's my "crown of glory." I'm not a failure at all. I'm exactly who God wants me to be...I'm Alyssa Spring Corley, loved by one man and mama to the two cutest kids in Georgia. I love the Lord and I try to live my life like I know He wants me to. Hmmmm...I think I'm actually quite accomplished.
Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.

And, hello, I just gave birth to this beautiful child....God is good all the time. All the time God is good.

you are right where God wants you, your family is lucky to have you :)

One lie is thinking that just because you're a mother you're frumpy. Far from true, my dear. You always look so put together.
