Second Thoughts About an Important Issue

I'm studying more about lies that we believe....one that has hit me is the lie that people just walk away from God and are still Christians. I have always thought that when you accept Christ into your life, as you become an adult if you walk away from him and a live a life of sin, that when you die you live eternally with Christ. My thoughts about this have changed after reading these Scriptures:
We know that we have come to know Him if we obey His commands. The man who says "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did....
Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness....
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him....
If they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that non of them belonged to us.....
This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.
1 John 2:3-4, 5b-6,9,15b,19b; 3:10

I know that Christ lives inside of me. I know this because when I sin in any way...whether I envy someone's things, if I speak harshly to my child, if I watch something "suggestive" I feel so sick inside I'm almost nauseated. It's not my own doing that has made my conscience so sensitive...it is Christ inside of me. There are a lot of people in the church today who sit there on Sundays and then live they way they want to live all week....this kind of behavior is what is making up our modern day Christianity and is why the world at large hates Christians. "Christians" have become hypocrites.
I like how the author Nancy Demoss states in her book Lies Women Believe " The Truth is, no matter how "house-trained" a son or daughter (or a mom or dad!)may be in spiritual matters, no matter how fervent they may have appeared to be at one time, if they do not have any heart or hunger for God, if they have a consistent pattern of rejecting the Word and ways of God, they need to be challenged to reconsider whether they were ever really converted in the first place."
It's no ones place to "decide" if someone truly is a Christian or not. That is between the individual and God...I don't intend to go around and shake my finger at people and judge. I do say though....if you profess to be a Christian then act like it. Stop confusing unbelievers by allowing them to believe that you can live as you want and still follow Christ. This is impossible and I feel sorry for the "Christian" that is responsible for leading unbelievers astray.
