After 5 years of REALLY disliking our kitchen counters...we finally got up the nerve to replace them. I really love the look of butcher block but when I went to
Lowes and got an estimate for our kitchen...I felt a little "downhearted".....$1600.00 dollars downhearted. So, I did what I do best....got on
ikea.com and browsed and browsed...became very determined...got
Zac on board - the rest is history. Once I have an idea, there really is NO going back.

Plus, who wants to buy a house that has
counter tops with particle board swelling up and flaking off....definitely not pretty.

I feel sort of sorry for
zac that I always get to just plan everything...choose colors and textures and then leave him to do all the dirty work. I wasn't exactly sitting with my feet propped up...but I wasn't stuck in the kitchen for 48 hours either. One day while the kids were able to go to
VBS me and my friends when to Trish's house and cooked her 4 meals in less than 2 hours (she's having a baby in 2 weeks and my thoughtful friend Emily thought we should stock her up some meals.) I finally received my payment for the little forest applique...and the wait was WELL worth it!

Trish has her masters in pottery and I kind of feel like the winner in this handmade swap. Her baby nursery was SO very cute....the applique was right at home. :) I'm super happy to have these mugs for my new kitchen....

And here she is....whiteness herself - in all of her
spic and span glory. I just can't believe the
transformation...
Zac did SUCH a good job. He also replace my sink for a much larger deeper one...and I got a new faucet that I can actually fill up a jug of water now without having to tilt the jar...so nice. How about the
back splash idea? We found this idea on line...you just use the really nice water treated white
bead board around your kitchen and finish it out in a little trim....looks cozy and def goes with the style of our home.

Loving this $2 dollar bar from
Ikea. I know a few posts back I said that
TJMaxx was the happiest place on earth...I take it back.
Ikea wins by a thousand times.

My lovely white sink....

the other side of the kitchen...you can see the entry way to the office right here...my next decorating project soon to come....

And then...the man of the hour. Or should I say "day"?
Hmmmm.....maybe "life." Yes...definitely "life."

Isn't it such a WONDERFUL feeling to walk into a new, sparkling kitchen??? I had that honor when we moved into this place (since it was brand new). So glad it's all finished and now you can extra ENJOY cooking and doing dishes. :)
Is this a quiche I see on your stove?? YUMMY!
