Family Hike

Yesterday morning we woke up to cool, somewhat muggy, weather. It had been raining the night before so the day was a little damp but we decided to brave the wet environment and go for a hike at that nearby park I was telling you all about (a few posts ago.)
It wound up being a mile loop but the way back was mostly ALL uphill...very good exercise when you are carrying two kids. Brady made it the whole way down and most of the way up himself but he became super exhausted, rubbing his eyes and yawning. Good grief, 32 lbs uphill certainly got my heart pounding. It felt so good though, just to be out in the beauty, surrounded by moss covered rocks and trees....all different species...fir, cedar, red oak, wild ferns. It was just gorgeous.

Some of the trees were growing over the trail, making a sort of bridge. Zac loved that part...I love the way that nature just grabs Zac's attention and he get's lost in time thinking of days hiking and camping around Caborachi. He always tells me stories about how much fun he had as a boy running through the woods, riding his horse to school, camping with the Taylor family. I'm glad that we can take walks that bring him good memories from the past and good ones to hold on to TODAY.

Me and my Brady boy...notice my pants look a little large. They are in fact much to big for me..I was holding them up with one of Zac's belts. I didn't want to wear jeans and definitely not shorts so these that I bought on our honeymoon (almost 5 years ago, can you believe it?) did just fine. :) There were wild Blackeyed Susans all over the place too...wish I would have snapped a photo of that. It turned out to be a lovely family experience.

Thanks so much for posting that sweet post about being glad Zac has good memories from Mexico. I'm glad you're glad!

How are you feeling these days? In a not-so-long-ago post you mentioned how totally exhausted you were. Are you ok now? You are SUPER thin! Are you eating enough to keep up your energy?

Love you!

It is so cool that you guys found that park. Maybe we can go after I am home and have a more settled schedule. I love to hike and could use the exercise to help keep my weight under control. I look forward to seeing you soon!
