Sunshine Yellow

"To persons of refined nature, whatever the friend creates takes added value as part of themselves - part of their lives, as it were, having gone into it.People of the highest rank, abroad, will often accept, with gratitude, a bit of embroidery done by a friend, a poem inscribed to them by the author, a painting executed by some artist - who would not care for the most expensive bauble that was offered them. Mere costliness does not constitute the soul of a present;it is the kind feeling that it manifest which gives it its value. People who possess noble natures do not make gifts where they feel neither affection nor respect, but their gifts are bestowed out of the fullness of kind hearts."John Young 1881
My dear friend Havala brought me this apron for my birthday and it is simply "perfection." It looks friendly don't you think? I love it and am happy that Zac captured me wearing it, lounging on a cool autumn day...listening to trees swish in the wind...leaves swirling around the yard. Pretty soon I'll be out in the leaves raking instead of sitting lazily on the porch. Isn't the fall wonderful? Emily made me an apple pie and every time I bite into a piece of it's cinnamony goodnes (I've had three slices so far and the number is going up tonight) I think about cold noses and crocheted caps covering chilly heads. I think about slices of warm pumpkin pie accompanied by steaming cups of coffee. Smiles. Doesn't fall just make you smile?
I love peaceful times...homey times. Sometimes I wish Zac were a farmer and I could just glance out my window and see him plowing a field...then at lunch I could take him a jug of cider and let the kid's pet his mule or something. Anyways, I know it's a day dream but I think I've been way to affected by the Little House on the Prairie people. If they only knew how they've affected my brain and my expectations. Ha!

When we cleaned out Billy's parent's house I found a couple of aprons that his mother used to wear. They are made by hand and old fashioned fabric...and ordinarily I wouldn't like them...except I know that she cooked many warm delicious meals while wearing them. Billy's mom had such a way of making a person feel at home...and her cooking was yummy. So, I kept the aprons and let Autumn use them when we bake something....just because...

so, hold on to a couple of your aprons for the kids to let their kids wear...someday

That's a real nice picture of you relaxing on your porch swing. How I wish to have one some day....

Alyssa,

You look so beautiful sitting there like that. I'm sure your husband holds that picture in his heart.
